What were the prevalent philisophical and or religious beliefs at the time?
Christianity was still a big part of most peoples lives but other theories such as the big bang started to come through and some people believed that.
How did the individuals ideas fit with or differ from the beliefs in the last question?
Antonio meucci was a catholic. He attended a catholic school when he was a child.
He was raised in a catholic family
What major cultural, economic and political situations were taking places at the time of the persons work?
The industrial revolution was occuring at the time so inventions were being created all around! Economicly Italy was in great shape as well as the rest of the world was in much better shape than we are today.
What artists, musicians, and writers were working in the same country as your scientist?
William blake, lord byron, Henry James, George Elliot and many more artists were Working during this time and they worked in Italy as well as around the rest of the world.
What were the basic demographics of the country during the time the person was working?
The economy was changed tremendously and culture was changed tremendously as the industrial revolution was occuring. Families got more in to technology and the economy was helped because of the technology.
How were gender and colass roles defined during this time frame?
Mostly there were just male white scientists during this time period. segregation was still a factor with blacks and also women werent appreciated like they are today.

Learning about Antonio Meucci
1. What events early in the scientists life might indicate or have sparked an intrest in science?
Meucci was very intrested in mechanical engineering and also medical electricity and has been since he was little. At a time He was curious about the strength of the shock of a battery and stuck one in his mouth to test the shock.
2. What role did mentors play in developing talents/interests?
Antonio Meucci never really had a mentor. He grew up curious and enjoyed science and technology.
3. What was the state of knowledge that existed in the areas of study when the scientist entered the field?
Meucci entered the field during the industrial revolution time so not much had been invented he was the first to invent the telephone. People say Alexander Bell was the first. He was the first to carry the invention he re did into the market industry. He got credit.
4.What were the major accopmplishments of the scientist?
He invented the telephone in 1871, the candle mold in 1860, And he improved numerous things like treatments, foods, and medicine.
5.What was the state of "the academy" of science and how did this impact the science work?
The science academy was not huge during Meuccis time. He invented a very important invention we all use today and is still being improved. His idea started it all. His ideas impacted the science world tremendously.
